 About the Accommodation

The special features are:

  • As I said: thesize! About 50% larger than the other cabins
  • LOCATION: One of the very few cabins located right on the front row along the main canal leading to the lake (hence the name “Waterfront”)
  • Shower inside the house(lake cabins usually have outdoor showers, which can be a bit chilly during the transitional season)
  • In addition to the large terrace, there’s also a sort of “winter garden,” which is actually part of the terrace and is protected on all sides by mosquito netting. If the mosquitoes ever do become a nuisance (which only happens at sunset, and even then only rarely), you can sit in the“winter garden,”where you’re protected from mosquitoes but still outdoors.
  • Instead of the usual steep ladder to get to the sleeping areas on the first floor, there is a much more comfortable staircase, which is important for younger children or people with limited mobility
  • More storage space for your luggage compared to other cabins
  • Electric stove
  • Dishwasher
  • Air Conditioning
  • Wi-Fi
  • High-quality gas grill with an 800-degree Sizzle Zone infrared burner (for steak lovers)
  • Electrical hookup, so all electrical amenities, especiallyair conditioningAND
  • Electric boat(with a place to lie down, a ladder for getting into the water at the lake, …) However, it can only be used by people who are mobile; getting in and out can be difficult depending on the water level, and covering it with a tarp requires some juggling at the edge of the boat, etc.

This extra space really makes a difference, especially in bad weather. The bathroom is located in the main building, which is truly unique. 99% of all cabins have an outdoor bathroom (see the photos of the Robinson Cabin). Especially in the spring and fall, having a shower inside the building is a definite advantage. The bathroom is also RELATIVELY large—even larger than in Glamping Cabin No. 5a (though that came at the expense of the bed’s width; see below).

Most huts require real climbing skills to reach the upper sleeping area under the roof (“am Juchhe”), but this hut has a nearly normal staircase (though it’s naturally cramped up there, and people with limited mobility will likely still have a hard time getting up and down). The sleeping area under the roof is not safe for small children.

The bedroom has a 140 x 200 bed. Surprisingly, the 200 cm length is actually quite remarkable. The standard size in the ’70s, when the cabins were built, was 190 cm. We moved the wall back by 10 cm. The GRILLER is an absolute luxury item and even puts a Weber grill to shame (in my subjective opinion 🙂 ). The 800-degree Sizzle Zone (infrared) conjures up crispy, caramelized crusts on medium-rare steaks!

You may use the BOAT free of charge (strictly speaking, it is not legally included in the rental). However, operating the boat is probably not something everyone can do. You should be athletic—or at least agile—to get in and out. This is especially true now, since the water level is very low and the distance between the boat and the deck is greater. The boat must be covered with a tarp, which requires some rather precarious maneuvering on the boat. If someone books the Waterfront cabin (or the glamping site) and, due to the somewhat complicated “logistics” (covering it, securing it, getting in, getting out, etc.), is unable to use the boat, this is not grounds for a price reduction. The entire Romantika settlement is a weekend community of private homeowners. Only a very small number of owners (like me) rent out their properties from time to time. Therefore, please be QUIET—that is, be considerate of the neighbors.

There is an availability calendar for every stilt house lakeside cabin. To view it, click on the lakeside cabin of your choice in the upper right corner and scroll down to the availability calendar. The pink availability calendar SHOWS current availability. However, you CANNOT click directly on the calendar to book; instead, you must enter your desired dates in the “Check-in” and “Check-out” fields directly below it. It makes sense to choose only a check-in date that is displayed in gray (= available) on the availability calendar. 🙂 All possible check-out dates for that check-in date are displayed in bold on the calendar. Since there are minimum stay requirements, you may, for example, be able to select July 27 as your arrival date but not yet July 28 or 29 as your departure date. Longer minimum stays (7 nights) apply specifically in July and August; in other months, the minimum is 2–4 nights, depending on the season. Please feel free to try it out or ask me directly. If you book longer stays (usually 5 nights or more), you’ll receive a 5% discount on your stay—which means not only are the cleaning costs spread out more evenly over your stay, but the total cost is generally lower as well.

More Important Information

Ultimately, all cabins—including this one—are unique projects that require flexibility. Building a house on the water is a crazy idea in and of itself and requires a willingness to compromise, especially if you want to do it on a small plot of land.

The terraces are not fenced in and are located in the water, which means they are not suitable for non-swimmers (children!).

The air conditioning also works very well for heating. However, the municipality shuts off the water supply as soon as there is a risk of frost and does not turn it back on until spring, when there is no longer any risk of frost. This means there is a winter break from around early November to early April. I do, however, accept bookings for the few weeks of this “unclear transition period”: Anyone booking for periods from around mid-October to mid-November or from mid-March to the end of April will, of course, not have to pay a cancellation fee if the cabins are uninhabitable for this reason (frost shutdown). Conversely, however, I am not obligated to provide alternative accommodations. Thank you for your understanding.
